posted (October 5, 2021)
Police busted 2 persons in the Cayo District with a large stack of suspect prescription medications for which they did not have any kind of papers.

The accused are 43-year-old John David De Leon, an American who has been living in Caye Caulker Village, and 27-year-old Louany Kareen Ulloa, a nurse from the Hillview area of Santa Elena Town. According to the cops, at around 1:45 p.m. yesterday, a police team intercepted a gold Chevy Suburban SUV on Savanah Street in San Ignacio Town. De Leon was driving, and Ulloa was his passenger.

The officers searched the vehicle and found 2 black plastic bags on the passenger seat. Inside they found several boxes with the label, "Oxykon Plus." The packages had a combined total of 880 pills, and neither of the vehicle's occupants could produce a prescription. Oxykon Plus is a high grade painkiller.

They were arrested and charged with the offense of possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply to another.

The tablets will be sent for testing at the National Forensic Laboratory.
